Pesto Burgers

Languishing jar of pesto (or some other type of sauce) in the fridge/freezer? Get creative with some ground beef a try a new twist on basic burgers!

Pesto Burgers
Serves 4

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 medium onion, minced
  • 2 T. pesto
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • generous 1/4 t. ground black pepper
  • 1-2 pinches red pepper flakes (omit if heat isn’t your thing)
  • few dashes paprika
  1. Preheat your grill. Place all ingredients in bowl and mix with hands until well blended. Form into four patties of (roughly) equal size and thickness.
  2. Grill to desired doneness – about 3-4 minutes per side depending on preferences. Enjoy!

I served these with roasted spaghetti squash and a chopped summer vegetable salad. You could jazz this up even more with a variety of toppings: roasted red peppers, goat cheese, caramelized onions are the first few that come to mind.
